They called it Zoom. White Lady. Narcotic Cloud Nine. It was meant to make the user feel like a god. An epidemic of cannibalism spread through the area and in each case the perpetrators were found to have traces of this substance in their bloodstream. Maybe it was a bad batch. Maybe it merely dredged some filthy desire from the depths of their subconscious. Saul knew the risks and gambled against them anyway in the sake of having a good time. He lost. He fled that town, that province and even that country for some time. No matter how hard or far he ran he couldn't wrench the image from his mind's eye:

The Lagahoo/Ligahoo is a shape-shifter in West Indian folklore that borrows from the French Loup-Garou with a few distinct differences- the Lagahoo's shifting is not tied to the lunar cycle and its form is not restricted to the archetypal werewolf. It is believed to assume the guise of many animals, mostly livestock (goats, pigs, horses) but more commonly a half man, half dog monstrosity that lumbers about in the dark of night, shouldering a heavy coffin wrapped in chains that emerge from the creature's chest. By day the Lagahoo assumes the appearance of a normal human (often a farmer or laborer) with absolutely no telltale features of their true nature. Obeah men [occultists, users of folk magic and rituals similar to the Haitan Voodoo practitioner] were often believed to be Lagahoo who, while often willing to strike a bargain to help those in need, were damned to roam the roads and wilderness at night desperate to satiate an endless hunger for blood and flesh- human or otherwise.
